Congratulations to the Dyce Academy DofE Silver team who successfully completed their three day expedition over last weekend. They walked in the North Highlands between Kinbrace and Crask Inn finding evidence of dwellings in abundance before the infamous Highland Clearances of 200 years ago. The team will present their findings early in November. This concludes our expedition season which has been highly successful and trouble free. “Well done”, to all who have taken part and good luck for next year.
VSA’s Community Group for Charitable Fundraising Award
Dyce Academy will collect the above award from the Lord Provost of Aberdeen on Thursday 10 October. This is in recognition of all the hard work organising the past few year’s food collections. Congratulations to all involved in organising the food collections and thank you to all those who contributed.
Scottish Schools Adolescent Lifestyle and Substance Use Survey
Some of our pupils have been randomly selected to take part in SALSUS 2013. SALSUS is the Scottish Government’s main source of information on alcohol, drug and tobacco use among Scotland’s young people and has been running since 1982.
While we feel participation is important, and the results of previous waves of the survey have helped planning and developing services aimed at reducing smoking, drinking and drug use among young people in Scotland, you can request that your child does not take part in the survey.
The selected pupils will be given an information letter home which should only be returned if parent/guardians do not want their child to take part.
