Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

Now known as the DofE, this voluntary, non-competitive programme is open to all pupils between S3 and S6. It is an extra curricular activity offered at three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold. To gain the Award, a pupil has to spend a certain amount of time helping as a volunteer, developing a skill, developing a physical programme and undertaking an expedition. In addition, Gold candidates have to spend a week on a residential experience. At the present time around 60 pupils and six members of staff are involved in the scheme. Dyce Academy Careers Fair – 1 October 2013

On Tuesday 1 October Dyce Academy will be hosting a Careers Fair within the Academy Sports Hall from 2-7pm. From 2-4pm the event will only be available for school pupils to access. S3 and senior pupils will be taken around the event by staff. From 4pm onwards the event will be open to all parents and members of the local community. There will be about 40 different employers, Further and Higher Education providers that will be attending which are listed on the attached document. As all pupils from S3-S6 will be making subject and career choices shortly, this event will be able to provide both themselves and parents an idea of the what employers are requiring as far as subjects and relevant qualifications are concerned.
