P7 Cullen Experience Evaluation

The P7 Transition Residential Experience (Cullen Experience) has been a part of the S1 transition programme since the school opened 34 years ago. We regularly evaluate the experience to ensure that it does  meet the aims we have for the experience.  I would be grateful  if you could take the time to fill in the questionnaire which your son/daughter will take home from school. Please return the questionnaire through registration  by Friday 21 November.

Many Thanks

S2 Social Subjects

Second year social subjects pupils have been given a practical insight into the impact of child labour.

Split into groups or ‘families’, they were tasked with making paper bags – with limited resources and to a strict quality criteria. They were only given payment, in rupees, once they had made a batch of 10 bags. The follow up class involved working out how much each family would have made in a day and how this could be spent. Many of the groups had to make tough decisions after they discovered that they didn’t have enough money to buy food, rent or resources to make more bags.

The lesson was one of a number of active learning tasks in the Modern Slavery unit.
