S6 RMPS – Amnesty International Young Human Rights Reporter Competition

BBC S6 picS6 pupils today were lucky enough to have Fiona Stalker, BBC journalist, in to talk to them about human rights journalism.

The pupils had lots to ask her about how to write an article that will stand out above the rest.  The topic of the referendum also came up as the pupils are excited to be voting next week!

‘The Young Human Rights Reporter award celebrates talented young writers reporting on a human rights issue they care about’ The competition is a national one and closes early next year. If our pupils win there will be an awards ceremony to celebrate their success. Below are some of the topics pupils have chosen to write about:

  • The death penalty in America
  • Transgender rights
  • Mandatory voting
  • Human trafficking
  • Freedom of speech and censorship
  • Child soldiers

Wish them luck!

DofE Expedition to Norway – August 2014

Congratulations to the eight students from S6 who worked so hard to complete an arduous four day expedition in South West Norway from 11th to 14th August. They coped with some incredibly challenging conditions such as heavy rain, waterlogged paths and swollen stream crossings to successfully finish in fantastically high spirits. Well done!IMG_0877
