Updated Announcement – School Closures – Sunday 22 March

Further to The First Minister’s statement on Sunday 22 March, the school is now closed to ALL pupils. S4-S6 pupils, therefore, SHOULD NOT come into school tomorrow to complete coursework. The Chief Examiner, SQA, has indicated that further guidance on the completion of coursework and certification will be provided as soon as possible.

SQA Coursework Timetable – week beginning 23 March 2020

Assemblies were held today to outline the programme for S4-6 who have still to complete SQA Coursework assessments.  We asked everyone who still has an assessment to complete to ensure that today and on Monday they speak to the relevant staff to complete or arrange times to complete their assignments.  Students should then attend school at the times directed by staff until these are completed.

The following has already been arranged for students, and intimated to them through Google Classroom

Monday 23 March:

  • Periods 1 and 2 – H Modern Studies Assignment will take place
  • Period 1 onwards – N5 Practical Cake Craft will complete their assignment

Tuesday 24 March:

  • Periods 1 and 2 – H Admin will complete their Assignment
  • Periods 1-4 – N4 Admin AVU will be completed

Some assignments will be completed online by pupils.  Staff will make students aware of this through Google Classroom and deadlines will be given.

S4-6 Completion of SQA Coursework

We are preparing a timetable for the completion of coursework for SQA certification.  As soon as we have completed it we will publish this in Google classroom and on this website.  Only the young people who have course work outstanding should be attending at the times indicated on this timetable.  As far as possible, through Google classroom, teachers will display the list of pupils expected to attend.

Of course any pupil who is currently self-isolating should not attend.  More information to follow.

SQA 2020

SQA

As the Deputy First Minister stated in Parliament today, the SQA Examination Diet in May 2020 will not go ahead.  Schools are required to submit estimated grades which are based on a range of assessment evidence gathered throughout the year. The SQA has stated that they will work to ensure that all learners receive their SQA results no later than 4 August.

Schools have been asked to continue to work with young people to complete all remaining coursework.  Therefore, from Monday all secondary schools will remain open to accommodate S4-S6 pupils who still have SQA coursework to complete.  The school will make the necessary arrangements with these identified pupils.

For pupils who are currently self-isolating, individual arrangements will be made.
