Second year social subjects pupils have been given a practical insight into the impact of child labour.
Split into groups or ÂfamiliesÂ, they were tasked with making paper bags  with limited resources and to a strict quality criteria. They were only given payment, in rupees, once they had made a batch of 10 bags. The follow up class involved working out how much each family would have made in a day and how this could be spent. Many of the groups had to make tough decisions after they discovered that they didnÂt have enough money to buy food, rent or resources to make more bags.
The lesson was one of a number of active learning tasks in the Modern Slavery unit.
