Mrs Adam and Miss Wilson recently met with Simon Sharkey and his team from the National theatre of Scotland. They came to the school to discuss the thrilling plans that they have in store for the staff and pupils of Dyce Academy and the people of Aberdeen City and Shire.
Simon and his team are very enthusiastic about bringing Transform to Aberdeen and commented on how welcome they already feel at Dyce Academy.
The TRANSFORM team brought some news with them. They came to tell us about a very special Director that they want to bring to Dyce Academy. Paddy Cuneen is a well-known and much acclaimed Writer, Director and Musical Director, who has worked with the National Theatre of Scotland before. Some people (especially our S4 pupils!) will be familiar with the play âFleetoâ, which Paddy both wrote and directed. You will soon be able to see on example of his Musical Direction when Peer Gynt (currently at the Barbican in London) comes to His Majestyâs in June this year.
To allow us to work with Paddy and to create the best Transform project that we can, weâve agreed to change the dates of the project. Paddy and his team will now be coming to visit the school and local community in June 2009 where they will meet with pupils and hope to forge links with the local community and local businesses.
When they return they will develop their plans further, before taking a short break prior to taking up residence in the school in February 2010. Here they will begin the intensive preparation as we lead up to the production, which is proposed to take place during the week beginning March 15th 2010; one week before the end of term. The event will be ticketed, but ALL tickets will be FREE.
There will be opportunities for lots of people to contribute their ideas, skills and talents during the creating and performing of the production. If you can tell a story, play a musical instrument, dance, have on interest in photography, or you can wire a plug, then you might be able to help in someway. Of course, giving of your time and being a supportive audience is essential too!
Exciting times are ahead for Dyce Academy and Aberdeen City and Shire. We will keep you informed of our progress via Update and the school website.
Spread the word and let people know that Dyce Academy and Aberdeen are âTRANSFORMINGâ.
